Cherokee Purple Tomato
(25 seeds) (TP101) 80 days. One of the most well-known heirloom tomatoes. Known to be grown by Cherokee Indians before 1890, its purple color and complex, juicy taste make it a standard at markets and at home. The purple or black tomatoes are highest in vitamins of all tomatoes.
Start indoors in early spring; transplant outdoors after last frost. When digging the hole outside, add epsom salt and crushed eggshells, in addition to a 10-10-10 fertilizer, to help strengthen the plant and ward off diseases like blossom end rot.
